U.S. Annexing Canada (split fm Liberal Minority thread)

Best of a bad lot?

When the alternatives are mainly forensic accountants and data scientists ...

Mr. Trudeau needs to go away..... quickly.
I mean, with the bunch of people waving flags that they want to fornicate with him, maybe JT is glad someone is only calling him insufferable 😏

Mr. Musk needs to jump in one of his Cybertrucks, turn on full autopilot and drive into a snowstorm.
Mr. Musk might be a raging idiot at times, but in this instance he is entirely correct.

Mr. Trudeau is actively undermining our national interest by sinking to partisan political talking points when referring to the next leader of our closest ally, and most important trading partner. If Mr. Trudeau acted like a PM and stuck to congratulating Mr. Trump for winning a fair and democratic election, Mr. Musk wouldn't be opining on Mr. Trudeau.

I'm thinking that the LPC thinks they can steal the next election by campaigning against Trump, and I think it is a massive miscalculation.

Tin Foil Hat on: Trudeau's personally is such (we all know the descriptors) that he may be intentionally sabotaging negotiations, running up the Debt/Deficit, disrupt industry (gas/oil), etc just to prove "he is the man, and frick you".
His record is indicating this is intension.

I would not be surprised if he attempts to place huge tariffs on Alberta/Saskatchewan oil/gas products to retaliate against Trump.

I saw that article.

The fact that Ottawa is even considering retaliatory export taxes on oil/gas, potash and uranium says it all.

Alberta and Saskatchewan are useful to Confederation only as a bargaining chip- consequences be damned.

Gee, I wonder why an export tax on hydroelectricity is not being considered?

Thanks.

Trudeau raiding the cookie jar:

The National Association of Federal Retirees is concerned about the federal government's handling of non-permitted surplus funds, which has resulted in the transfer of $1.9 billion into government accounts. We are troubled by the potential appropriation of an additional $7.4 billion from pension funds, representing the deferred compensation of retirees and employees. Although current legislation permits such actions, allowing the government to take a contribution holiday without providing equivalent benefits to those who have contributed, we firmly believe that there are more equitable alternatives available.

Another evnironmental factor to throw into the mix: survey says not so many proud to be Canadian as before.

As usual, Trump doesn't really care.

He just wants to sow panic and create division, so he can get what he wants later, and it's working - even before he actually becomes President ;)

Ontario mulls U.S. booze ban as Trump brushes off Ford's threat to cut electricity

Incoming U.S. president Donald Trump is brushing off Ontario's threat to restrict electricity exports in retaliation for sweeping tariffs on Canadian goods, as the province floats the idea of effectively barring sales of American alcohol.

On Wednesday, Premier Doug Ford said Ontario is contemplating restricting electricity exports to Michigan, New York state and Minnesota if Trump follows through on a threat to impose a 25 per cent tariff on imports from Canada.

"That's OK if he that does that. That's fine," Trump told American network CNBC when asked Thursday about Ford’s remarks on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.

It's almost as if having a government that is ashamed of the country and undermines our history has a negative impact on national pride...

We can acknowledge historical wrongs without tearing down our national myths. Myths that are key to unity and national pride.

The US is on the same trajectory.

And I bet you might find similar results in most western countries.

If I was invested in tin foil I might think our countries are being subverted by adversarial states, who stand to benefit from fractured western nations. And then I might think they have done this by infiltrating our education system and using it as a weapon against us.

But I am not invested in tin foil.

Oooo look a sale on bulk ammo...

I think I understand what you’re getting at, but aren’t myths by definition false?

Acknowledging that a country has faults isn’t bad by itself. But it should be followed up with “…and this is how we can make it better.”
