Well CBC does it again.  Just watching the Royal Canadian Air Farce, and they have just done a skit (approx. 20 min. after the hour) on the CF in Afghanistan.  Just a little bit of the CBC agenda visible in it.  Blue banner at the bottom with 'their' statistics on the war.  Rather derogatory 'cadance' ending in a 'Friendly Fire'.

Well, I will give them a 1.0 for Bad Taste.

......followed by a spoof on Tim Horton's/Visa commercials..........no agenda there.....Right!    ::)

.....political statements throughout the last ten minutes.......not really supportive of our current government......

I saw it as well. I lost all interest in thr Air Farce that I might have had. Looks like I will have to get my Canadian comedy from The Mercer Reportfrom now on. At least we all know where Rick stands!

Well, to be fair, RCAF has never really been too fond of any current gov't; however, they are NOTHING compared to THH22Min.  Talk about agenda!

I saw Rick Mercer one morning at the PRT when they were visiting.. I didn't recognize him at first, and was wondering how a soldier had gotten away with having such distinctly non-military hair. (He was in Cadpat at the time)

I believe that is the 'Traditional Haircut' of the Officers of the PPCLI.  ;D

You'd think so, but I was over there with 3vp, and it still surprised me..  :o

Probably not the PPCLI (Hello?  LdSH (RC)?  I'm looking at you!)

I just saw the skit...I think the CBC and RCAF should be ashamed of themselves of how they misconstrued the facts. Their little song saying they the CF are peacekeepers not soldiers(war fighters), the scrolling marquee at the bottom quoting money spent and resources deployed to Afghanistan and the poke with the friendly fire. Not funny or helpful. We are trying to defend our mission to the Canadian people and once again the media takes their own spin an pushes their views. It also seemed as if we are idiots. If they want to do a skit ref a deployment, at least make it factual, funny and most of all, in the best interest of the people involved with the mission.

We need more Rick Mercer's, Michelle Wright's, Tom Cochran's and other celebrities that support the CF openly and help us.

Shame on you RCAF and the the CBC for allowing it.

I lost interest in Air Farce when they took them off the radio and put them on TV.

I haven't watched royal Canadian air farce or this hour has 22 minutes for a while now.
But thank god for the Rick Mercer Report. It is by far the best. ;D

I haven't seen the skit, but it is a comedy show, isn't it? Why are we taking it so seriously?

Enjoy your retirement from the CF, or get a life George. ::)

now THAT takes me back.  One of the best on the radio was when they did a skit about Pierre Trudeau becoming emporer of Canada.  This was back in about 82 or so.  His speech at the Coronation:
"Now that I'm Emporer, there's no need to linger.
You gave me the crown and I give you the finger"

Now THAT was funny!

I don't watch RCAF or THH22M, I'm an RMR guy. I remember one skit where he was jumping with Gen. Hillier at trenton when he asked the guy he was jumping tandem(Spelling?) with, "What if I don't put my arms in the right position". My reply would've been, "I'll let you drop the rest of the way" (with a grin on my face). But that's just me.

The best ever one I heard them do on the radio was the one where a bunch of  sailors stole the Bluenose and sailed to Australia to win the America's Cup - towed by dolphins.  Oh, and there were being chased by the HMCS Tatamagouche, whose captain had a novel way of removing traffic in his way - by shooting it out of the water.  Caused Australia 2 to lose the race...

You sir need to get a life ! :threat:

This is not the time to make fun of anything about AFGN.

I saw the skit as well,   I was 90% done writing a rather vexed posting here about it when I decided that maybe I was being too sensitive.  I was annoyed when they said the mission was un-winable and I felt they were being jovial about a rather grave topic (friendly fire at the end).  I don't think they meant to in any way impune the efforts of those who are there;  and it is the duty of the artistic community to cause discussion, debate and to explore different avenues of understanding ... with that said I didn't find it funny and it just made me feel bad. I didn't quite understand their underlying message,  I think I should go to their website to see what they were thinking.
