Yeah,

Jason Kralt did a guest visit to CPC a few years back. I managed to get one of his Ottawa "Jersey's (??)"...autographed. I wear it as PJs sometimes....when I'm not in my flannel cows, which keep me much warmer.  ;D

Now that were back on topic.........Here is a couple of scan repo's from my personal collection of the SAS association.


I like the way the badge looks. I think both badges would look sharp on both the tan and maroon beret respectively.
Possibly changing the scroll to "Facta Non Verba"
As for the collar dogs.

Not sure but here is the boarding party badge.

This badge which was recently introduced into the system is worn by any member of the Naval Boarding Party (Army, Air Force and Navy) who is currently a member of the team and is only worn on the Naval Combat Dress (NCD's) . Personnel who have completed the training, but no longer are a part of a Boarding Party are not permitted to wear this badge.

Wow...those badges (SOA and naval boarding party) are pretty cool...But any developements on an actual CSOR capbadge?

I know it's kind of a superficial topic, but I'm one who believes that while it's not a priority of theirs at this stage, getting a regimental identity (capbadge, colours, DEU collar dogs, regimental march) would still be beneficial in the long run. Members of such units need to feel that they belong there, and those are part of the equation.

Besides, most SOF units around the world have a regimental structure, so why not CSOR?

While the unit level things such as colours, march, etc, would make sense, it would require more than just cap badge, collar dogs and what not.  Remember, the unit is joint, and blue and black uniformed folk do not wear collar dogs, shoulder flashes, etc, but have their own patches etc.  Unless you made everyone wear green, you would always have the disparity of colour on parade that set the AF and Navy apart from the Army folk. Also, CSOR is a 3 yr committment (more or less) and once done, you go back to being RMS, AVN, and (insert trade).  Food for thought.

The CSOR is an amalgam of many trades...
As stated, Black & blue types don't have the same badges
Even in green, The Sappers, Gunners and Log guys wear their branch badges instead of a specific regimental insignia.

From a personal perspective, just because I wear a CME capbadge does not mean that I am not immensely proud of my regiment & my branch..... but an Infantry or Armoured guy might have difficulty wrapping his mind around the concept....

I think 3 yrs is a minimum, and that you can stay after that.

CAR used a similar approach, i.e. drawing ppl from the 3 reg infantry regiments. It had its own regimental structure complete with capbadge and colors and, once you were done, you just went back to your parent unit and rebadged.

I mean, they called CSOR a Regiment, and they loosely gave it an infantry battalion structure (as far as I know, feel free to correct me).

Still, like I said, it takes nothing from their operational capabilities, but wouldn'd it be nice if they had a kickass crest on the tan beret?
