Freeland just resigned from cabinet, so I guess she was overruled by the PMO…The National Post is reporting that Freeland is going to walk back the $250 Canada Working Benefit planned for next spring.

Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.Breaking: Chrystia Freeland has just announced resignation from cabinet. I guess someone else will announce the economic statement.
In her letter, Freeland said that Canada "faces a grave challenge" and referenced U.S. president-elect Donald Trump's threat to impose a punishing 25 per cent tariff on all Canadian goods.
"That means keeping our fiscal powder dry today, so we have the reserves we may need for a coming tariff war," Freeland wrote. "That means eschewing costly political gimmicks, which we can ill afford and which make Canadians doubt that we recognize the gravity of the moment."
Freeland did not specify in her letter what "costly political gimmicks" means.
Not to mention the constant attacks on them (her) from... well, lots of people. She finally had enough.
I have no idea how a politician keeps their self-respect when they have to continue to spout nonsense from the centre.
So much for the “feminist in Chief”.
I kinda actually feel a bit sorry for Freeland that she believed his bullshit.
Not to mention the earned constant attacks on them (her) from... well, lots of people.
I will take that bet and counter. This looks to be the beginning of a caucus revolt, especially when two high profile members of the Cabinet resign right before a major fiscal update to Parliament. She has stated that she intends on remaining in Parliament as a Liberal and will seek reelection, I bet she will vote for these political gimmicks; if introduced by Trudeau and her replacement.
Carney, enters stage right!!Breaking: Chrystia Freeland has just announced resignation from cabinet. I guess someone else will announce the economic statement.
Fuck I am at a lost for words. We agree on this.Oh we know exactly what it means.
Parliament has done nothing for months now, they really need to put aside some political differences and function as reasonable adults in the very short term. If the rest of us can work for those clueless assholes, they can hold their Right Honourable noses and have a coherent plan for when Trump takes office.
