I will take that bet and counter. This looks to be the beginning of a caucus revolt, especially when two high profile members of the Cabinet resign right before a major fiscal update to Parliament.

They may have held fast in the autumn when there were calls for PMJTs resignation, but in the face of many more aggravating factors; a Trump presidency with economic threats, abysmal polling, and an Opposition throwing non-confidence motions left and right, I can see her leading the charge from the backbench.

What else does she have to lose?

Trudeau has left a huge pile of human detritus over the years, particularly women. His eventual historic defeat at the polls will be more a reflection on him than on his party. Freeland is usually fairly circumspect in her negative criticisms of people, but today she reflected on Trudeau’s lack of prudent fiscal policy: “That means eschewing costly political gimmicks, which we can ill afford and which make Canadians doubt that we recognize the gravity of the moment.” If that doesn’t pull the rug out from underneath Team Justin then I don’t know what will.

In another thread I posted how John Diefenbaker made quite a number of enemies within his caucus and particularly his cabinet. I wouldn’t be surprised if history proves Justin, despite his good looks and sunny appearance, to have been somewhat similarly disliked by those who have been close to him. Maybe at least Sophie Trudeau will remain loyal to him…on the other hand…

Parliament has done nothing for months now, they really need to put aside some political differences and function as reasonable adults in the very short term. If the rest of us can work for those clueless assholes, they can hold their Right Honourable noses and have a coherent plan for when Trump takes office.

I think it should include a Cabinet revolt, acting PM and some basic adulting between parties but now is not the time to push some election bribe handouts or some of the other nonsense from the Bloq or Cons.

Having a snap election now would be a disaster for the country, but calling one in Jan/Feb might actually appease the Drumpties as they like bullying people and 'owning the libs'.
